In our last OFSTED inspection in 2007 we were awarded grade 1, outstanding across the board and inspectors said "Priestley College is an outstanding college where every learner really does matter." Shortly after this inspection the College was awarded the prestigious Learning and Skills Beacon status by ministers. The College has recently invested over £10 million in developing the campus to improve teaching and learning, this work included the landmark Crescent Building (pictured) which has added a new prominent feature to the skyline of South Warrington. The College has had an A Level pass rate of over 99% for the last five years and in 2009, 35 advanced level courses achieved a 100% pass rate. The new academic year promises to be another exciting time as diploma courses in Creative and Media and Business, Administration and Finance begin, working alongside the already established diploma in Society Health and Development, launched, last year. Priestley is now a candidate School for the IB programme, which means that from September 2010 they will be offering the International Baccalaureate qualification to students. This is a genuine alternative to A Levels which offers breadth and challenge to those who choose to take it. It is recognised by leading universities in the UK and around the globe. It
is no wonder that more and more young people from across
the region are deciding to choose Priestley as their
stepping stone to University or employment after Year
11.
