Ant ready for Aussie challenge
The promising rugby league player will travel to Australia with the rest of the junior academy squad from St Helens on a tour lasting just under a month. Whilst in Australia, the young Saints will play a range of matches culminating in a clash against their counterparts from Penrith Panthers. Anthony, who lives in Newton, but travels into Warrington to complete his studies at Priestley, is currently in his second year of a BTEC National Sports Diploma. On the books at the Saints since high school, the former Golbourne amateur is currently half way through a two year scholarship contract at the GPW Recruitment Stadium and is excited by the challenge. "The visit to Australia is the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m really looking forward to it, spending a month away in a place like Australia is a dream come true" he said. "The setup at St Helens is great, it’s a strict but an enjoyable regime and you have to be very disciplined. In the build up to the trip we played a trial game against the first team which was ideal preparation and hopefully in the future I’ll be able to emulate some of those players." •
